Our headquarters hotel, the Hyatt Regency Chicago, has hosted two
previous
Worldcons and is enthusiastically waiting to welcome a third. And with 2000
sleeping rooms and 210,000 square feet of function rooms and exhibit halls, you
never have to go out into the sun or rain unless you want to. The Hyatt Regency Chicago recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation of the rooms and elevators in the hotel.

Business Center
The Business Center is conveniently located on the concourse level of
Columbus Plaza in the East Tower of the hotel. The following services are

Check-In
Hyatt Regency Chicago's check-in time is 3:00 p.m. Room assignments prior
to that time are based on availability.
Check-Out
Check-out time is 12:00 noon. Several options are available when
checking out:
Video check-out: This option is available on the guest room television.
Simply follow the on-screen instruction and pick up a receipt at the Gold
Passport Desk.
Express check-out: The guest receives a passport on arrival, simply fills
out the back and drops it in the box at the Front Desk upon departure. A
receipt will be sent via mail.
*123 check-out: Dial *123 on the in-room telephone and follow the
instructions on the voicemail system.
Charges will be assessed to guests who check out before their scheduled
day of departure or check out after 12:00 noon.
Concierge
Our concierge staff serves as a liaison between guests and our hotel.
They provide internal public relations and overall guest service. They are
capable of assisting with everything from dinner reservations, to
providing referrals for baby-sitting services, arranging local tours,
placing a local or long distance floral order and providing directions.
Please do not hesitate to stop by the concierge desk. It is located in
the East Tower on Level 2, or call extension 7745.
Emergency
The number to call for emergencies is 2000. This may be called from any
house phone in the hotel.
Film Developing
Photo Hut, a convenient one-hour photo center, is located in One Illinois
Center. Photo Hut offers a wide variety of services, including developing,
enlargements and reprints. If you have any questions, please call

A turndown service is available upon request. The suggested housekeeping
gratuity is $1.50 per room per night.
We have also determined that the Hyatt offers small "cube"
refrigerators for a one-time charge of $25. -hazel
Kosher
A full service Glatt Kosher Kitchen and Pastry Shop is on-premise and
available for catering events of over fifty people for in-house and
off-premise activities. Should an attendee require a Kosher meal for a
particular event, we will be happy to accommodate the request. A minimum
24-hour notice is requested.
Laundry and Valet Services
Hyatt Regency Chicago offers a full service laundry and dry cleaning
operation on-premise. Laundry turned in by 9 a.m. will be returned the
same
day by 5 p.m. Laundry bags and price lists are included in each guest room
closet.
Liquor Laws
Illinois law prohibits the sale, purchase and distribution of alcoholic
beverages to anyone under 21 years of age. The law prohibits persons under
the age of 21 from purchasing, possessing, consuming and accepting a gift
of alcoholic beverages, except under the direct supervision and approval
of
the parents in the privacy of a home, or during a religious ceremony.
To prevent sales and/or service of alcoholic beverages to individuals
under
the age of 21, the licensee, agent or employee has the right to refuse to
sell or serve alcoholic beverages to anyone who is unable to produce
adequate written proof of identity and age. Adequate proof of age and
identity of an individual in Illinois is a document issued by a federal,
state, county or municipal government including, but not limited to, a
driver's license, a selective service card or an Armed Services
identification card.
It is unlawful for any person under 21 years of age to show or present
false or fraudulent written identification or use identification other
than
his or her own to order, purchase, attempt to purchase, receive or service
alcoholic beverages.
Lost and Found
When an article is found in the hotel, it is turned into the Lost and
Found
Department and kept there for 30 days. If the item is unclaimed after 30
days, it is returned to the person who located the item.
The Lost and Found Department is available for inquiries Monday through
Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After 4:30 p.m., the Hotel Assistant
Manager is available to assist you. The Hotel Assistant Manager's office
is
open 24 hours daily. Guests are responsible for all shipping charges to
return any claimed articles.
Medical Facilities
In the event of an emergency, our Security Department can be reached at
extension 2000 or through the hotel operator (0).
If a guest requires emergency medical assistance, they will be transported
by the Chicago Fire Department Paramedics to Northwestern Memorial
Hospital, which is the nearest emergency medical facility to the hotel.

Mini Bar/In-Room Bar
Each guest room is equipped with a mini-bar for your convenience. The bar
contains miniature bottles of liquor, beer, soda, wine and snacks.
Mini-bars are restocked on a daily basis and charged to your account upon
consumption. If you need to have products completely removed from the bar,
there is a $100.00 removal charge. If you need assistance or have
additional questions, please call the Servibar Department at extension
6552.
Parking
The hotel has valet parking located in the lower level of each tower. The
height clearance is 6'8".
Perfect Stay Program
At Hyatt Regency Chicago, our professional staff is committed to you,
our
guest. Our Perfect Stay Program is designed to handle your requests and
address any concerns. Guests may make a request by dialing extension 44 on
the guest room phone. A Perfect Stay Ambassador will be happy to assist
you. All requests will be responded to within 15 minutes.
Regency Caterers
Regency Caterers is Hyatt Regency Chicago's full-service, off-premise
catering operation. Named "one of the top caterers in Chicago" by Special
Events Magazine, Regency Caterers is able to provide your organization
with
customized catering and personalized service at some of the most exciting
and attractive venues in the city of Chicago. Please call 312-616-6800
for menus and location recommendations.
Rollaway Policy
Please be aware that Hyatt Regency Chicago's policy limits the placement
of
rollaway beds into guest rooms as follows:
Under certain circumstances, one rollaway is allowed in rooms with two
double beds. This decision is determined by hotel management. Please
contact your Convention Services or Catering Manager for more
information.
Two rollaways are allowed in rooms with king-sized beds.
Two rollaways are allowed in parlors.
Based on the fact that the size of the rooms do not allow space for
additional beds, guest requests for rollaways exceeding the above
guidelines will be declined.

The Package Room is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for delivery
and
shipping of guest and convention packages.
Handling fees are as follows:
- $5.00 for packages weighing 1 to 10 lbs.
- $10.00 for packages weighing 10 to 20 lbs.
- $20.00 for packages weighing 20 to 50 lbs.
- $50.00 for packages weighing 50 to 200 lbs.
- $200.00 for a skid or pallet of packages
The handling fee for all outgoing packages is $7.00 per package. The
charge(s) may be posted to a guest room charge or master account.
All packages must contain a label with the following information:
- Return address
- Name of group/convention
- Name of person who will claim the package
- Date of person's arrival
- Date meeting is to be held and location in hotel
- Group contact (Convention Service or Catering Manager)
The hotel is not liable for the safe or timely arrival of packages sent
to
the hotel by or for any group. The hotel accepts no liability for lost,
stolen or damaged goods.
The hotel will not accept cash on delivery (C.O.D.) shipments. Please
note,
storage is extremely limited. Upon arrival, please contact our Package
Room
at extension 6525 or your Convention Services or Catering Manager to
arrange for delivery.
Delivery of Federal Express, Airborne and UPS packages occurs daily at
approximately 10:00 a.m. Packages are picked up daily at 5:00 p.m.
The Business Center also offers services for shipment of packages. For
more
information or to make shipping arrangements, contact your Convention
Services or Catering Manager.
For convention or exposition shipments, contact the Exhibit Hall Manager
at
312-565-1234, extension 4880 for scheduling purposes. All exhibit
materials or products must be shipped to your service contractor. Hyatt
Regency Chicago will not accept direct exhibit shipments of any kind.
Hyatt
Regency Chicago's preferred exhibit service is HES Enterprises. Please
contact your Convention Services or Catering Manager for more
information.
Swimming Pool
Hyatt Regency Chicago offers two options for swimming:
Lakeshore Athletic Club at Illinois Center: The Lakeshore Athletic Club
is adjacent to the hotel at 211 N. Stetson St. Guests are able to swim in
the Athletic Club pool, however, the Club has specific restrictions
regarding children in the pool. All under children under eighteen must be
accompanied by an adult.
Taxes
The following are required taxes that will be applied to your billing.
These rates are non-negotiable.
- 9.75% State and city tax applied to all services (food, beverage,
rentals
but not on gratuity).
- 14.9% Room tax (9.75% state and city tax and 5.15% occupancy tax).
Occupancy tax is not subject to tax exemption.
- 17% Gratuity charge for all food and beverage planned functions held
in non-sleeping rooms (banquet & meeting rooms) and for off-premise
events.
- 16% Gratuity charge for all food and beverage planned functions held
in sleeping rooms/suites.
- 3% Meeting room rental tax.
- 3% Soft drink tax applied to all non-alcoholic bottled products. (In
addition to 9.75% tax).
