| Phyllis also won the Science Fiction Chronicle Readers Award for best novella in 1981 for In The Western Tradition, which was also nominated for the Hugo and Nebula awards. |
| Currently, Phyllis teaches science fiction writing at Columbia College in Chicago and is about to launch a magazine, financed by the college. the will showcase student science fiction. Her next two writing projects are a non-=fiction book on arthritis and a science fiction novel set in the Sahara Desert -- which explains the maps on her wall! |
