How well do you know your sf and fantasy? What do the endings of Fritz Leiber's "Last," Lewis Padgett's "Compliments of the Author," and E.E. "Doc" Smith's Galactic Patrol have in common? What story ends "If he could only weep, he thought, but a robot could not weep?" What swords-and-sorcery hero meets Elric in Karl Wagner's "The Gothic Touch?" Who is John Wainwright?
If you know (or even if you don't) and would like to have some fun, consider being a contestant or spectator at the Chicon Trivia Contest.
The contest will be in Jeopardy! format: 6 categories of 5 each, the harder the question, the greater the point value. There will be no penalties for incorrect answers. Categories include "Through Time and Space with the Tree Stooges," "A Descent into the Mainstream (Part 2)," "My Kind of Town" (honoring our host city's contributions to the genre, "Man and Superman," "True Names," "Skiffy Films of the 50's," "Politically Incorrect," "Weird Days," "More Questions Lovecraftian," "Classic Mars," "Gee, I Read That When I Was Just a Kid," and "Fritz and Cats."
The object is to have fun, so expect a few totally off the wall questions. All are welcome, fans and pros.
