Any sharpened blade over 3 inches in length is a weapon in Chicago and is illegal to carry about one's person. What this means in practical terms is, if you whip out your steel in the wrong situation, the cops may feel themselves fully justified in arresting you for weapons violations. Keep 'em in your scabbards, boys and girls. Those of you fond of gunpowder should also be advised that all handguns are illegal in Chicago, barring special amnesty, and so is carrying them concealed. The city has nothing to say about "toy" weapons. On the other hand, if your super-realistic blaster attracts the attention of Mayor Daley's interest, the experience may not be a pleasant one.
