Hal's "real" name is Harry Clement Stubbs. He also paints under the name George Richard. giving him a second alias and making him a triple threat. He holds degrees in astronomy, chemistry, and education, and is a former high school teacher. He's also handy with a camera as you can see from the front of this card.
Hal's best-known work, Mission of Gravity, is well regarded for both its exercise in building the unique planet Mesklin, as well the entertainingly alien Mesklinites who live there.
"Speculation is perfectly all right, but if you stay there you've only founded a superstition. If you test it, you've started a science."

Card 27 was issued at Arisa, Boston, Massachusetts, January 10, 1997.
